Southern Utah's Premier Children's Choir
under the Direction of Launa Wyson
Turned in an Olympic performance at the St. George Torch Ceremony
The Dixie Children's Choir, now in it's 6th season brought the cold crowd alive with a stirring rendition of the National Anthem. With over 10,000 people in attendance, and several TV cameras rolling, the Dixie Children's Choir performed one of their trademark songs, "An American Salute." The choir opened the evening with a wonderful rendition of "Catch the Spirit." Following the two scheduled songs, at the special request of the Olympic Committee, "Canta Bella" performed an impromptu accapella version of "Trashin' the Camp."
As Southern Utah's largest private children's choir, the Dixie Children's Choir has also been recognized as one of the west's finest youth choirs. The Choir performs bi-annually at the St. George Tabernacle as well as once each spring at Disneyland. In addition, the Dixie Children's Choir also has a smaller traveling group known as "Canta Bella" which performs at many local events and school assemblies.
